Fatherly | Iran 2018

Fatherly

This is a joint project of my father and me. In this series I tell about the perseverance of the teachers in the thirties and fourties of the 20th century, who are now – after fifty years of building experience – capable to tell about their collecting books and papers concerning the history and culture, especially of the South of Iran. My father dedicated his life to education, protecting and improving the lifes of the Iranian people and their culture. In this project I write about the life and make portraits of my father.
He is a teacher. The emphasis is on his writings and his collection of books. The value of this collection is huge, part of our cultural inheritance and it is a pity that not every one knows how this treasure should be protected. For years my father wanted me to write a book with photos, which shows the culture of our country and the people living in it. Because of my busy life I could not realize such a project. But now I took the opportunity to respond to my father’s request.
Working on this project I realized more than ever that art and literature are the source of the wellbeing and stability in my life, the basis of my independance. It is our duty to protect the cultural inheritance of our ancestors. The daily life with its distractions of the modern world keeps us however from doing so. This project is the beginning of my return to the treasure and background which is so precious to me. Looking into and scrolling through the documents which have been untouched for so long. I start this journey by seeking the thoughts which feature the life of my father and I hope that this search can reflect in a more general sense the life of a generation which has experienced a hard life, striving for an independant, free, prosperous, open, modern world.

I first present this collection to my father and thereafter to all the people who are interested in culture.
According to Dr. Mohammed Moin :

“This was what I could do, but this is since long not what I wanted…”
